Nobody 'follows logic'

Not true.
Smart people do follow logic but of course this planet is not so evolved to have many smart people.
I am sure that in this vast universe there are millions and millions of other planets where there is life.
Some are less evolved than us and some more evolved and in these last places I am sure there are
a lot of smart people who follow logic.
I doubt however that among these smart people in these evolved planets there are any atheists.  

but it isn't a bad idea to utilize logic to maximize one's chances of achieving what one wishes to.

Good idea but rather than be all about wishes is all about the search for permanent peace of mind.
It is a fact that humans keep on searching again and again until peace of mind become a reality.
Those who say that they are happy with this physical-material situations only fool themselves.

Logic as such is contentless and directionless.  Logic clarifies the precise implication of propositions.

Oh, please Whatever, stop with this intellectual jargon and make it simple.
Logic lead to progress (way up).
Non logic lead to REgress (way down).
As simple as that.

I hardly recognize any of what you wrote, Rik, as having much to do with logic.

If you don't then tell me where peace of mind come from other then within.
