So the question is simple. Have you read the bible?
If you are an Atheist, it should be required reading! At least if you want to be informed, and know what you are against.
What person goes into any conflict w/o studying their adversaries first? That would be foolish.
Who knows? You may also get something Good out of reading it!
Unlike you, atheists tend not to think of those with differing beliefs as enemies. It is not necessary for anybody to read the bible, in fact given its contents and message it is not even recommended that anybody read it.

In the UK they mainly keep to themselves and hold charity events and knitting circles. They are unobtrusive and generally quite nice.
In the US on the other hand they are in your face demagogues that try to force their beliefs on people, "I don't believe in abortion so you cant have one" etc.
They seem to go out of their way to be actively evil in the full knowledge that they are being dicks.
So that is "Christian behaviour"
Trust me there are plenty of nutjob christians in the UK. It's just that, outside the salvation army, they couldn't organise a pissup in a brewery.
Here, in Ireland it's somewhere in between yourselves and the US. Our nutjobs are better at organising, but because of all the dirty laundry being aired in public (e.g. we were recently reminded of what a sexual predator and embezzler Eamon Casey was when he died [church is still giving him full honous though]) nobody's listening any more.
