But we have a big issue with people in power treating poor people with disdain, as they funnel money from the pockets of the poor and middle class into the pockets of the rich.

Republicans screw us over, Democrats refuse to fight back, and they bth work together to squash any third party.

It's interesting that you choose food, water and shelter, all of which are controlled by the free market, even in western European countries. I don't really have a point, just thought it was interesting examples.

That is utter nonsense. Nobody chooses not to eat or drink or have shelter, even homeless people will live under a bridge or an abandon house to get out of the rain/snow or heat. Even they look for food at food charities or beg for money to buy food.

I really hate the bullshit marketing that has been successfully sold about the word "free market". Huge difference between a market with regulations that prevent abuse of consumers, and the free for all market we have now. Market regulations are why insider trading is illegal. Market regulations as they stand now do not do enough to stop things that caused the car/bank/housing crash of Bush. Not even today when we still have Wells Fargo pulling their shit and the CEO only steps down when he should be in jail.

We have too much money writing our laws for everyone which suck the money up and erode the stability of middle class and poor. Nobody is against the private sector, but our climate at the top earners right now has far too much power and is far too abusive and does not do enough to protect consumers.
