A rather unconscious process. I believed in god and jesus in an abstract way but they were really just background, there but not there. Heaven and hell were also real but were not things I gave much thought to. All those things were real but not real a sort of vague tapestry hanging on the wall but seldom noticed nor of much concern.
So I guess I've always been an atheist in spirit if not reality. So realizing and admitting it was a slow process that took years. It has been only about two years at most that I really realized all that I'd stopped believing any of that stuff.
I am now a rabid atheist. I've said it before; Christianity is a myth and as far as I am concerned should be treated and taught as such.
