In a country where Alex Jones could claim the sun is brown and half of what he population would believe him, what good will conversation do?
No, thanks to the political environment the conservatives have created, they've forces liberals' hands so that the best thing that can be done for the people is to obstruct their every move and make sure they're defeated in 2018 and 2020. When one side has become too stupid to recognize basic facts, the time for conversations is over.
