The standards for a peaceful life do vary a lot between the two societies, making them seem different; but in reality they are just the same: on both sides there are humans who get angry if the way they see what they view and experience as a peaceful and calm to life is disturbed. Disturbing that way is one way to clash with the local society. ISIS in Syria clashed with locals for this exact reason.
To be honest, people around most of the Middle East would throw a happy party if their way to work is blocked. But would fight to the death if their sleep is disturbed, or money flow is cut.
