I've always wondered about that... whether that's a general American thing or just to shorten movies Cos judging by them, Americans never say hello or goodbye, please or thank you on the phone and just hang up without a word... or the same but walk off without a word if it's in person. So if American movies are anything to go by, Americans don't care that much about closure
A similar point is 'meet me at massive-long-address-full-of-numbers at time'...' okay'. Hang up. If it were me it would be 'hang on while I find a pen and piece of paper... can you repeat that?'... so again, by American movies it seems like all Americans have perfect memories
I had a similar thought as I was watching Finding Dory last night.
Someone gave her directions of, "Two left turns and the go straight," which she thought was too complicated and she'd have trouble remembering.
I watched that scene and thought, "That would be me!"
