Relative to... sure. Relative to what's reasonable to the rest of the developed nation's of the world, not so much. I suppose we're just using different yardsticks. Don't get me wrong, I like the man, I just don't think he was nearly as progressive as what he campaigned as.
Progressive in the original use of the term by its European developer, which Woodrow Wilson adapted to his agenda for the US. Control, control, control of human activity and thought via an ever-growing central government...all for the betterment of the masses too ignorant to know what is best for them. Eugenics was a big part of that plan.
That is what Clinton said she considered herself; an early 20th Century Progressive. Obama was reared in that mindset (Communism by now...but done correct this time by the right leaders) and was to produce that utopia at long last, but he found as each President has found that Congress impedes that desire in various ways, as does SCOTUS and The People...and that is how it was designed. Obama's supporters were disappointed and had great hopes that Clinton would at last be elected to finish the job. They were thwarted by ...dear gawd...a game-show host who inherited his millions.
Progressives come in all party affiliation and is seems that the longer public office is held, the more progressive one becomes...unless one has a very firm grasp upon ones integrity.
