Motorized wheel chairs.

Also, they don't actually grab the wheels. There's a rail around the edge of the wheel they use.

So.... The dream is alive!

I've had wheelchairs in the past for my mobility issues, and the main part of my hand below and outward of my thumb would always hit the rim. 

Interesting idea, but I think it would creep me out.

My mother and I have wildly different tastes in food and music.
