Since a person's worldview is significantly informed by their religion (or lack of) and a person's worldview will inform their decisions, and decisions constitute politics, you will never be able to separate the two.

This is so funny. If the head of the Church in my country had said that, we would expect him the next day to start collecting signatures to organise a referendum in order to change the Constitution so it would say "Give the Church the power to issue laws." ... the same as they have already done with prohibiting gay marriage explicitly by Constitution.

Yup, certain "decisions" constitute politics. Namely, decisions that affect the whole nation.

If some church has added to it, then you can call them a protestant or catholic, etc.  A good Christian is simply a Christian who really tries to follow the guidelines. A bad does not. They are not my standards and those provided are not ambiguous. ...  "recognized that Jesus is God and died for your sins, accepted the free gift of salvation, and committed to pursue a relationship with God"

It's simple: Each branch of Christianity claims the same: "We try really hard to follow the guidelines.", the only difference being that they understand the guidelines differently than you did. Think of Martin Luther: He thought that if the Bible was in every common man's reach, all faithful would all come to the same conclusions as he did. But once people read the Bible, they understood the teachings each in his own way.

You may believe that there is some "magic" that God uses for the believer who "seeks the Truth" so that he would get it right. Or you might assume it's all obvious, because you might have been taught from the very beginning how to understand / interpret the Bible, and now it seems obvious to you that what you understand is the "correct interpretation" and that "everybody should reach the same conclusions", but there are a lot of people out there who, the same as you, have been taught from the very beginning how to understand what they were reading, the only difference being that they were given different "glasses" than you were given to see through. And everybody says "The others are not true Christians, because the truth is CLEARLY this, what I believe. The only reason the others believe otherwise is because they do not actually seek the TRUTH, or they want to keep living in sin."

Every man sees "clearly" and "obvious" that the "truth" is what himself has already learned.

Quote:What is not possible is to call someone a Christian who has not "recognized that Jesus is God and died for your sins, accepted the free gift of salvation, and committed to pursue a relationship with God".

Completely possible. Take this rewording: "It is not possible to call a Muslim a man who does not follow the true teachings of Allah." --- you, who are not a muslim, can you tell what the actual, true, teachings of Allah are, how they should actually be interpreted? No, so you call them all "muslims", even though some muslim there would cry that it's not fair, that "most muslims there are not true muslims."

Quote:Leviticus was the law of Israel 1400+years before Christ (so no Christians in sight) under a theocracy let by prophets. To attempt to apply this today is to ignore any and all historical context, source of writing, intended audience, overall purpose of the writing, and any critical thinking how the OT and NT works together.

Do you realise the fact that there is NO verse in the whole NT to say "Disregard the whole OT"? Most Christians are not NT-only --- they still keep OT in their Bible, they simply cherry-pick the verses from it which they like. Do not imagine that throughout the ages or denominations people have always "liked" / "agreed with" or "disliked" / "disagreed with" the same verses from there.

Quote:This is from the Christian instruction part of the Bible:

Quote:Love in Action
Romans 12:9 Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. 10 Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. 11 Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. 12 Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. 13 Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality.

...

I have mentioned it before. Perhaps it was not clear enough. Most Christians (my definition of Christians) fully agree with you - they struggle to love and to never harm their own enemies. The VERY BIG problem is with those whom they perceive as the "enemies of God" --- no single place in the whole OT or the NT teaches Christians to love God's enemies. And once a Church has labeled a category of people "The enemies of God", the ones who "sin against the Holy Spirit", at that point hatred becomes fully justified against them (see Psalm 139:19-22) and they are capable of doing ANYTHING to them. This is the same logic people in the middle ages used when they fought in the crusades or when they tortured and murdered those whom they perceived as "heretics" and "witches" --- all of them were not mere enemies of people, but enemies of God.
