AI on an advanced level is coming but as a few other commenters mentioned, I don't think we're anywhere near that point currently - I don't see the machines taking over anytime within any of our lifetimes. The AutoML project by Google is interesting but the starting point for AI taking over was reached before their project.

As for whether AI is a good thing or not - I'm not sure. But we humans are a greedy, selfish lot and tend to be pretty dumb when making decisions with long term consequences.
