As noted above, you weren't born a believer, if you are now. I was raised in a household that didn't have time for religion. As I grew up I realized that people were obsessed with what seemed like science fiction/fantasy to me. Only not so well written.
Without indoctrination there would be no religions. People would continue to believe is silly shit, but they wouldn't have to fear being killed because their beliefs weren't in line with someone else's beliefs.
