My father-in-law is really bad at this. Anytime we get rain or something and he doesn't want it to rain, he says it's because God is punishing him.

Pretty much verbatim there. Apparently God cooked up rain specifically because one person wanted to paint, but he didn't want them to. I'm wondering just how much a god would care if someone decided to PAINT. Enough to send an entire storm through a large area? Seems pretty important.
I mean a lot of religious people tend to have a high opinion of themselves, because they think they're so special because God created them specifically. But this goes even further into the territory of ridiculous.
because there is some level of narcissism of wanting to feel special because they are taught to feel that way.
