My personal solution would be to psych ward them and not release them until fully rehabilitated, including the reformation of their faith.
I don't recall if this particular detail but IIRC, one of them has a sister who went to prison for....wait for it....killing her child in withholding medical care. If that doesn't make an impression, I doubt much else will.
