Comey's words "don't leave me alone with him", "stunned" by the "hope it goes away", demands of "loyalty". Comey took his comments as a direction.

3 in face meetings, 9 total attempts at calls by Trump. 

Any criminal investigator is going to be highly suspect of actors who repeatedly interject themselves into law enforcement. Trump's repeated behavior smacks more of the actions of a Mafia boss.
