Take me a while to find the reference, but somewhere I've encountered a statement from, IIRC, Brigham Young where he explicitly notes the Holy Spirit is NOT female. Considering the changeable and flexible and oft revised Mormon dogma, I suppose at least that occasion Brigham decided to get ahead of something before it turned into another 'thing' and Lord knows, the Mormons have certainly self-inflicted countless problems upon themselves.
Or maybe, perhaps, there is a still undiscovered item in the vast Mormon archives that proves at one time God revealed the Holy Spirit was female and then later, He changed His mind about that and sent ANOTHER correction to a prior revelation and turned the Holy Spirit into a male figure? With their congenital compulsion to change doctrine wily nilly, that can't be ruled out.
And also considering their profound confusion about everything else regarding the trinity, why not a female Holy Spirit, at least temporarily ??
I also note I've never seen a case of a Mormon being excommunicated on a matter of doctrine, and then that doctrine was subsequently 'corrected' or 'revised' or 'God changed His mind again' and then that previously excommunicated Mormon (who was correct all along) is then un-excommunicated. Doesn't seen to have ever happened for some reason . . . .

The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.
