Because the way the evidence points, not only is the idea of spirit preposterous but the description is not merely misleading but literally the most deplorable description of any character ever conceived. Or were you going to say that the holy book you base your ideas on is unreliable? Because I'd be okay with that.
Religions were invented to impress and dupe illiterate, superstitious stone-age peasants. So in this modern, enlightened age of information, what's your excuse? Or are you saying with all your advantages, you were still tricked as easily as those early humans?
