Get several estimates and don't tell the others the prices you've gotten, none of their business. The lowest can save money but may not stand behind their work, the highest may be no better, word of mouth is usually the best way to go. Good luck, it's hard when you do not know a contractor personally. Since I do not know where you live I can't help, if it's close to Indianapolis I might.

I'm just outside of Perdition. hehehe

When they are doing the work, make sure that you have time to watch them. One of my sons lives near Woodland Hills, CA. A house exploded earlier this week. The homeowners came home, smelled the odorant that is put in natural gas, and went outside to call the gas company. The guy pulled up to the curb by their house to talk to them then the house exploded. Same gas company serves my area (different county). A tech came by today to replace the leaking shutoff valve at my house (above ground, tyvm), which they proactively replaced, and told me this story. The contractors working on that home hit the main gas line (50 psi) while digging outside the house (don't know what for). They just threw dirt over the pipe, said nothing, and left. The main supply line is buried in the ground, but the house is on a raised perimeter foundation; once enough gas accumulated, exceeded the Lower Explosive Limit and reached an ignition source, BOOM. I think them boys are in a spot of trouble. Angel
If you get to thinking you’re a person of some influence, try ordering somebody else’s dog around.
