I don't expect to win the superbowl just because the opposing QB screwed up. Neither should one expect that Sanders or any other left wing politician will have tangible success in any form of single payer plan. Seeing how slowly this obviously bad legislation died, I wouldn't get hopes up. This Congress will have to be voted out before we can get single payer.
There still remains the "hunt for the poison pill rider" game in the inevitable upcoming short term fix for the healthcare markets. The GOP could conceivably add a deferred repeal into an ACA fix with designed-to-fail terms.
