Actually, "he" - or more correctly, preachers with a vested interest in holding onto control without actually doing anything to earn it - are selling the "cure". A cure for which there is no known disease. To borrow from the Hitch, the scam only works if they can convince people they were created sick and ordered to be well - and only they have the right formula of snakeoil to do it.
But it's transparently obvious in their book that the whole fall and salvation shtick is a fucking setup. There isn't even a fucking man behind the curtain, he's jacking off right in front of them. What more can be said or done? Nothing seems to work.
Religions were invented to impress and dupe illiterate, superstitious stone-age peasants. So in this modern, enlightened age of information, what's your excuse? Or are you saying with all your advantages, you were still tricked as easily as those early humans?
