If the cloud was hacked and the upload can be blocked and was not, what then. I know, still stealing. Maybe like leaving the car running and locked but with a window open?
She took the pictures on her phone, and the pictures were uploaded to the cloud. I believe she was phished for her login credentials, and her cloud was then accessed.
The cloud is still encrypted and password protected, most people store a lot of their private data there. Phishing is a way that hackers use to get people to give up their login information.
A lot of times it is an email saying that your cloud has been compromised, that you need to log in to confirm your identity. They then link to a page that looks exactly like the iCloud login page, and you proceed to just give them your login credentials. Then, they don't even need to hack anything per se, they just log right in until you change your password.
