 Open minded an open hearted are two different things, both are important, both are needed. I've been there and understand what you're saying, but when I added my contrite heart in with my open mind things changed.

I know what the KJV says, they used a wrong translation from the Greek to the English. No other place in scripture does it say God created evil except in that verse and in that version, could be in another version I'm not aware of. The correct translation for that word is calamity. This has been a subject of debate around here for many years and all the Christians have pointed out the error. Though in the context of the verses around it and the book it's in evil can be used, though calamity makes it easier to understand without going through a study of the verses. So in a way you didn't read it wrong, the KJV needs to be update for that verse. Not sure what the NKJV says, but it wouldn't surprise me if it's unchanged. Want a good translation the ESV and the NASB are two of the best, I use them both. Using a study version of those translations will give you insight into the meaning of many things. Saying just encase.....

  Yeah, like all the different papers on evolution that contradict each other. God intended for the Bible to be the only source, it's His word from Him personally why would there be a need for more than one. What does me being raised in the US have anything to do with it, many atheist were raised here too. Actually  the bold (by me) makes no sense at all, but I still answered it for you.

Are you saying every paper on evolution is meant to stand alone?  That explains a lot.  And if you don't see how christianity is pushed on a conscious and unconscious level in the US, you're dimmer than I thought.

  
 No though I do believe they are all wrong. People see what they want to see, especially when they strongly oppose something and believe it's being pushed on them.
