Well if parents beat their kids it proves  they're lousy parents!
My old man once kicked me like a dog for the heinous crime of throwing some orange peel down the toilet and it wouldn't flush, you couldn't make it up..Smile

Of course it proves they're lousy parents. That doesn't really help the kid much in the meantime. Kids are not afforded the same rights as adults. And unfortunately, in most countries, the social service systems in place to protect children from abusive parents are overburdened and inadequate.

The type of advice you're giving would put a child at risk for abuse or being kicked out of their home. I understand that you feel justified because the parents who would abuse their kids or kick them out onto the streets are bad parents, but knowing they're bad parents isn't a shield of protection for their kids.

The same can be said with abused women as adults. It is a nice notion to say, "Why not simply just leave."

Realty is never that simple.

Even with bullies. Even between boys and men. I was beaten up constantly by a street full of nothing but boys. I didn't have my first friend until high school. So when others say "fight back" or "leave" sounds nice but not the reality.

It is the same problem Muslims like Malala grow up with, and Ayaan Hirsi Ali barely escaped. Even on the family level in the west you cannot over simplify any type of abuse, male to female, or even male to male as "fight back" or "just do it, especially when it comes to kids.

I remember getting suckered to go down the block by a phone call by someone I thought was a friend. I went down the back allies but they were ahead of me scouting me on the way there and unfortunately I didn't see them. I trusted the asshole that baited me, he set me up, and as a result, 7 guys surrounded me, ambushed me until one of them punched me and broke my nose. Why? Because they thought I had flipped them off earlier in the day, but even if I had, how would that justify 7 against 1?

It would be no different if a man said, "My girlfriend/wife said "fuck you" and you stab them or punch them.
Nothing I did warranted what they did to me.

The problem with religion, is even if the child isn't flipping someone off like I was accused of, but just merely saying "I don't buy what you sold me" can be to many the same as a middle finger. The same as a impatient spouse who didn't have their dinner put on the table on time.

It does not matter what Die says to their parents, in a uptopia you'd be right, but in reality parents can be as abusive as the bullies I grew up with. Spouses can be as abusive as the bullies I grew up with.
