I forgot to mention that I really do not have a problem with a crucifix being displayed at ground zero, as long as it was not purchased by tax dollars.  

Just because it offends some people does not warrant its removal.  That is a slippery slope.

I do because placing such a symbol privileges some of the victims over others. It says that the christians wo died at the Twin Towers on 11/9/01 are more worthy of those with other faiths or none.
