Those neurons will not function and will die when the brain is damaged beyond repair. Just like if you take a jellyfish out of water and let it dry out in the hot sun. IT WILL DIE.

Again , just because you can take a car part off of one car and put it on another, does not mean that individual part constitutes the entire original in tact engine. Blow the engine up, the individual parts do not function like the in tact car. PERIOD.

There is no such thing as a soul. Your brain is affected by alcohol for purely chemical reasons, not magical bullshit or superstition or sky wizards.

There are tons of steps you are ignoring and you are merely plopping in "poof" as a starting point.

Evolution, goes from atom, to molecules of amino acids, to DNA, to organism, to organs then to species, then to consciousness based on species. Otherwise if all it took were atoms alone then bacteria have souls too. 

The neurons in your brain only work in conjunction with a healthy brain, the more damaged your brain is, the less function your brain has. Stop all motion in your brain long enough, YOU DIE and those individual neurons die with it. You are nothing more than your brain in motion, once your brain dies, you die, no more you.
