Basically, there's no hard line between the "good" characters and the "bad" ones.
Each has very real motivations for doing what they do the way they do it.
Also, just because a character seems to be the main good guy, that doesn't mean that they are safe... you're always on edge.
At least, we were.... now that the show has passed ahead of the books, the writers are just going back to the old formula where the good guys are always safe and only the "bad" guys suffer...
But the dragons are now awesome to look at!
