Can't say I've ever heard that term anywhere.
Here the word is only qualified with an adjective to make it even more insulting, Eg 'dead cunt" 'dopey cunt' (to bloke who backs into you at supermarket car park) or 'useless cunt' and if one is REALLY miffed " "fair dinkum,you're /he/she is as useless as a cunt full of cold water" Most commonly used when speaking about almost any politician,or a professional sportsperson who has just failed to meet your high expectations,usually by being beaten.
Do you perhaps mean something thing like "Geez,mate, you're a bit of a cunt with women" ,said with a smile and shake of the head? Nup, not OK here;a cunt is still a cunt. A male slut is called a 'root* rat',and is not necessarily an insult.
* "Root": Aussie slang, verb or noun= a polite way of saying "fuck" . A polite word for 'cunt' is 'fanny' (Aussies find the term 'fanny pack' hilarious)
"bastard" was once widely used as term of endearment, as in "G'day ya old bastard'"
