I don't see mythology about some unproven universal intelligence to be helpful at all, unfortunately.

We've actually seen countless examples of it to be harmful, to the point of genocide. Don't let it off the hook so lightly.

Oh, I'm not letting it off the hook at all.  I know there are a few fairly benign examples, but more often it's driven by unhealthy psychology.  The OP is a definite example of this -- it's rife with loathing and paranoia.
