The planet is in another dimension coming in at warp speed. One of the interesting things about warp speed is that objects don't disrupt gravity fields at that speed so a planet the size of Jupiter could whiz by Earth at a distance of 5,000 miles at warp speed and we wouldn't even know it. However, if it was to slow down to visible speed it would disrupt the solar system's entire gravity field and throw everything out of kilter.
Now look at this map that shows the sites of the day's earthquakes = https://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/...%3Anull%7D You'll notice that Alaska is larger than Mexico and that Greenland is larger than South America and Africa. That's why objects going warp speed don't disrupt the solar system's gravity field.
