Look buddy, I'm applying the EXACT same criteria atheists apply to us. We say someone isn't a christian because they aren't adhering to christian principals, but you don't care anything about that, it's still a no true scotsman...

I don't give a fuck whether he was an atheist or not. He was a sick man and a criminal who clearly didn't hew to those values that matter to me. I'm not a cheerleader for every person who also doesn't happen to believe in your imaginary friend.

And there isn't a core message based on atheism, dumbass -- unless pointing out that people like you have imaginary friends is a "core message". Why don't you run Jones's message past the members of this board and see how many atheists respond to his alleged core atheist message? Like it or not, you have more in common with him and his followers than I do.

Those are the EXACT same points many atheists parrot here.

The oppression of women and non whites

Throughout the Bible, women are consistently described as inferior to men. Women were made by god to make sons and to serve as sex slaves.  Women had less importance and less value than a goat.  The book requires a girl to marry her rapist, after he pays her father for her.  The book gives instruction to fathers on selling their daughters into slavery.  The book of Revelations states that "women MIGHT be saved through child-bearing".  All Abrahamic religions clearly believe that women aren't PEOPLE - and that's what the system is based on.

Also...you do know that American slavery in the South was expressly based on the law of Moses, right?

I find it... "funny", for the lack of a better word, how black people worship the same god who allowed them to be enslaved. What's worse, he actually ordered they should be enslaved. I'm guessing they'll end up not exactly in the place they were hoping for when they were alive, lol.

Should your evil sky daddy actually exist, I would consider it my moral duty to oppose the genocidal psychopath.

It would seem many atheists here already agree with Jim Jones's message.
