My pessimism springs from observing humans. Give me something that was ought to be great; and a human must come to ruin it by spreading negativity and selfish ideas.
Is that why you think the industrial age came about, or is that another metaphor? Maybe you should get out and observe more humans, or a different bunch of them. It really shouldn't be too hard to find good people doing good things...even in the shittiest of circumstances. If you're committed to pessimism, however, you might not find good people doing good things if they were dancing on the tip of your nose...so there's that.
