Creationism has indeed been around since the 60s and in that time they have failed to make a successful case against evolution 

This is an opinion. Perhaps you havent gone on any Christian websites and you are  just assuming that they havent made a succesful case against evolution. In reality they have.

Let's see now, a Christian website full of scientifically illiterate people talking about something that they don't know and wish not to be true, versus peer reviewed journals and labs that use the theory of evolution to make solid testable predictions and real life useful applications such as medicine.

I think I will give more credence to the latter.
