Yeah theists in general just can't wrap their heads around what a non-issue this is. The whole 'What if everybody was gay huh?' argument is just scraping the bottom of the barrel.
I take them at their word when they say they believe homosexuality is a choice. They can't handle believing it isn't because that would mean God deliberately made these people like that. That is unacceptable because their holy book clearly spells it out as being immoral. Plus, they probably have a natural or culturally-nurtured revulsion of homosexuality which also rules out God having made them that way.
So if they really believe it is a choice, then yes, it's a natural progression to worry about a large percentage of the population becoming gay. It's utterly ludicrous but no more so than some of the other fundamentalist beliefs.
Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former.
