I was raised fundamentalist religious. Disbelief was a simple awareness of "I can't believe this crap anymore, it makes absolutely no sense."
I was raised fundamentalist religious. At 12 years old, I was searching in a Christian School library for what was "wrong" with me. I wasn't attracted to boys.
The books I found sounded ALMOST as vicious as you do.
I prayed frantically and desperately day and night for god to change me for ten years. I went to religious therapy and endured "conversion" therapy.
At 22 I finally admitted that god was never going to change me. And I slit my wrists. My parents decided that I was a failure and disowned me. They told me
that I would be welcome back home when I was pregnant, preferably married to a preacher. That was 36 years ago.
