I haven't followed it stupid close but I'm a stone's throw from indy so it's on the local news quite a bit.
From what I understand of the whole thing;
The state is cutting $7 mil in taxes for Carrier, in return (and for the reasons I stated for my company and companies in general) Carrier is investing $16 mil into the facility in Indiana over the next ten years
They are keeping 800 jobs at the plant and relocating 600 jobs to Mexico.
---They stated that when the deal was made so there is no changed there.
Keeping 800 is better than losing 800 and still keeps a ton of tax dollars coming into the local area and state. That's on top of the engineers and administrative staff that was going to stay anyway.
What's the gripe?
