There's a lot of anime I love. Some of my favourites are Death Note, Azumanga Daioh, Gurren Lagaan, and One Punch Man. There's a lot of great anime I haven't watched yet, but I'm working on it.
Best films: anything directed by Hayao Miyazaki or Satoshi Kon, and Akira.
One I'd also like to recommend is Gankutsuou, partly for the update to The Count of Monte Cristo, and partly for the art (specifically those weird patterns):
I understand it might be objectively lazy, but I've been in love with this strange style since I was a kid watching The Offbeats from Kablam and wondering how Tommy's shirt always retained that plaid pattern
