That's what I don't get. With all these girls and women being harassed, how is it not an instant 1-way ticket to batting practice with the girl's father?
This is a species flaw worldwide in thinking.
Girls/females worldwide still for the most part, to greater or lesser degrees, get treated as less than males, even if only in pay.
The long term psychological reason is our majority population is still stuck in old patriarchal themes. Even in polytheism or monotheism, even the Queen, today as back then, be it a ceremonial society like the Royalty of Japan or England, the female is always second in line, just like all of antiquity, and will only gain power as the head if no male option is born or if a male dies.
Even in popular advertising today, there is an obnoxious commercial for a car insurance company called "The General" in which the guy asks the father for permission to marry his daughter.
Point is, our species still has yet to grasp the idea that both sexes are required and equal, and both men and women die ultimately. We still far to widely see brawn as better than nurture when the truth is neither or an absolute and both are simply attributes of evolution.
Even China and India and Japan have a far worse problem with under reporting harassment and rape.
Men worldwide simply need to understand that ultimately they are not the top of the chain in our species but merely have different attributes.
