There's another comment I left talking about friends I've had and actual news reports of Christians in other countries that are killed for their faith (it's particularly bad in the Middle East). Very unfortunate stuff.
Yes, Christians are persecuted in certain countries, and Muslims are persecuted in certain countries, and so forth. That doesn't mean they get to cry about being persecuted in countries where they're the majority and over 90% of elected officials profess the majority religion. 'We're persecuted' doesn't ring true in those circumstances, because it's much more accurate to say 'they're persecuted'. Vicarious persecution isn't admirable or becoming.
This is worldwide, not limited to Christians/Muslims/Jews.
A Dali Lama Tibet supporter Buddhist is going to claim Chinese Buddhists are the oppressors. A Japanese Shinto Buddhist is not going to agree with Chinese Buddhists, but yea I agree.
If one wants to claim Christians are oppressed, sure, but my argument would be where? Not in America.
Coptic Christians and Kurdish Christians living in the east are oppressed, but I would laugh in the face of Kim Davis if she stupidly thinks LGBT having the right to marry is oppressing her.
The terms "minority" and majority" are always case by case and geographical.
I think Atlass even in his country has far more to fear than a Muslim living in America, but even in America, a non violent Muslim has the same problem here as a minority as a non violent Mexican, fucking asshole bigots.
