Killing off sections of the population, or killing nearly everything on the planet, is not a solution to the problem Humans face. It is a symptom of problems like tribalism, resource inequality, and subjugation of weaker groups by more powerful groups. Likely among others. A god should be powerful and intelligent enough to not have to resort to it. As far as I can tell, Yahweh doesn't do much to really fix societal problems. He might pass down some laws to mitigate problems, but it took us working together, sometimes against religious groups, to bring freedom and equality to the world.
I've heard talk about how he was patient with some groups, but when his patience ran out, he decided to have them killed. But that just begs the question, what did he do while he was being patient? The bible rarely if ever really goes into detail about these things. It focuses more on "just do what he says, and you won't die". Similar to how my father says "do what I tell you, and I won't beat you". Getting beaten as a child didn't help me become a better man. Killing people by itsself doesn't help society become better.
Who would want to treat an innocent kid like that?
I really don't blame you for your hatred against obvious cruelty, for death, for genocide, for the God who is supposed to be in control of all that.
And I never want to diminish your proper sense of justice.
I came from a background that has never been told, because it had different areas of complex suffering, as well as obvious brutality. In what was supposed to be a Christian home, but which was the opposite in many ways. If anyone should have serious misgivings about God it is I.
I don't know God, but I experience love in big enough doses that help me.

To hear it told, he's finding lost wallets and appearing on toast and whatnot...which sounds like a strange hobby.....and a fantastic misuse of his limitless time and ability.
I know what you are referring to about the toast, lol ! (God is not the one behind the delusions and Satanic activities).
I asked exactly the same questions - what happens between the interventions.
No one is more proactive than God, and the actions are not trumpeted, not known, and not appreciated - of course, how could they be if not known.
I could rave on about a few things going on, but it's just too much for me to handle, I don't know where to start...
