In fact I've seen evidence against the christian God. And if you imagine that a God exists for comfort, then you're not a real christian. A christian is a theist and a theist is someone who believes, not imagines a God. Even if you could've been considered christian, you're still a pussy. The truth is you're sheep, you do what you've been raised to do and what the other sheep do without asking questions. Religion makes you happy because it makes all around you happy. You're also scared of reality, the world can be a very cold place and you feel comfort in ignoring it. You say that Christianity is so moral. How about a little challenge? I challenge you to make a list of rules from the Bible that you follow and one with the ones you don't follow. I assure you that the second list will be big if not bigger than the other even if you're a fundamentalist. Atheism doesn't require any moral rules, so I don't have a code that I don't follow. I use logic and empathy to determine my moral code as many other atheists do, heck as you probably do. Stop telling me how to live my life to make yourself feel better. You might try to make me feel better too, but you're failing miserably."
That was a relief! :)
To be fair, this is the same argument you get from every religion worldwide.
Prime example are Sunni's and Shiites whom don't agree on the interpretation of the Koran. But you also wont get a Tibet Buddhist to agree with the politics of a Chinese Buddhist. And certainly a Japanese Shinto Buddhist wont agree with the politics of a Chinese Buddhist.
Hindus and Jews do not escape this umbrella label fracture either. Not even atheists.
While "atheist" is not a religion, we most certainly DO NOT agree on all issues all the time. I am a social and economic liberal but DO NOT agree with other atheists who think Che, who lead to Castro's Cuba, was a hero. I also do NOT agree with other libertarian atheists, whom are great on social issues, but take the GOP bullshit stance that billionaires will end up on cat food if you tax them more. Ayn Rand was an atheist I would despise, whom probably today would have been pro Trump. I also DONT see a day when 100% of our population will not want firearms, I do hate the fact that even some atheists think we can simply sell more and do nothing.
Point is, our labels as a species DO NOT constitute automatic good or bad behavior. I see GOOD even within theists. I also have run into atheists I do not like. The only difference between an atheist and a theist, isn't that our labels are magic pills, no label is. The only difference between the atheist and theist is that an atheist does not assign our behaviors to a divine/God/super natural world.
You are reacting to what you are used to and familiar with. Over my 16 years of online activism, I have run into former Muslims rejecting their former faith, but even Hindus and Jews and Buddhists. Penn, the illusionist, wrote a book called "God No" in which he accounts a fan, a former Jew, whom he went out to dinner after a show and the guy ate a bacon cheeseburger.
You cannot leave your skin color, nor do you get to pick your parents. But you can think for yourself and decide what was sold to you was not what you thought.
