Let me also add Alpha, this DOES NOT even have to be about being an atheist or being LGBT or any issue like that.

You can mentally abuse a kid by having an "all or nothing" dictatorial parenting attitude.  

He doesn't portray his parents like that. He says they're moderates regarding religion.

Further, he's at least 17 years old. I don't know what the law is where he is but where I am you can walk out and support yourself if you want. If that's the case and he's bitching while taking their support, that's especially ungrateful.

I could care less some teens, even 18 and 19 year olds do not have the financial means to live on their own. Life is not a script and not every family has the same finances.

I bitched about my mom, even in her old age. That did not mean I didn't love her. I knew I drove her nuts sometimes too. I am quite sure she complained to her friends out of ear shot too.

Family is no different even with co workers you may love. You have a slam busy day, something along the lines goes out of whack, you argue over who did what, end of the day you clean up, you go home, you don't hold grudges, you start the next day again, as a team.

Love isn't always about agreeing, or never getting upset. BUT what you do and how you communicate in the long term.

You have NO right to judge Die since you do not live in that house under those conditions.
