Doing whatever I want because there's no guilt trips being thrown my way. Not having to subscribe to any belief that a god or gods exist is so incredibly freeing.
And it's not about whether or not I can go out and pillage and rob and do all sorts of immoral things. It's about the simple fact that I am free to do things, as I want to, such as volunteering and not having to expect anything in return. I can just help people because I want to - not because there is some end of life reward attached.
I'm free because I don't have to listen to a weekly sales pitch/guilt trip as to why I have to give money to a church that gives false hope and uses false advertising to promote their "business".
Free of all of that and it's such a wonderful feeling!
Well, the theist always stupidly takes, "I can do what I want" as being "lawlessness" in that there is nothing stopping us from things like murder and rape.
Um no, it just means we are superstition free. Our evolutionary empathy is what keeps us from harming others. We want law too. We refrain from harming others because we don't want to live in a crime infested society. The only difference is we simply don't assign human behaviors good or bad, to superstition.
But yea, the guilt that religion sells is horrible. It is self inflicted emotional blackmail and unhealthy.
