I think that mental illness is the default assumption. Listen to Episode #25; the good professor discusses people who dream of becoming amputees. Mental illnesses takes a very wide form and breadth. Why should I believe that Paul had a divine experience as opposed to some sort of epilepsy?
This to me sounds like something I find to be very common here. That when something opposes your worldview, that it is then defaulted to either lying or crazy.
I would ask why you think epilepsy is a better explanation? Just a guess, but I think it’s going to be begging the question.
