Of course it does! If I lose my keys, do I just assume that a fairy took them? How do you distinguish between someone who is a functional schizophrenic from someone who has a "genuine" religious experience?
You simply vet the message or experience.
God rarly just burns a bush without providing a message. So test the message.

They must be right, so I must be doing it wrong.
It's the binary world of good/bad, heaven/hell, free/slave.
No nuance allowed and certainly no dissension.
That's not it at all sport.
There is no end to the ask part mentioned in the parable or the bible. meaning if you say you asked as in past tense, and you are not currently asking, then you did not follow the instructions. you have to ask open endedly
Here is why we are to ask open endedly: Because in doing so (depending on how hard our heart is) God is to lead us out past our broken/bad understanding of Him, past the point of hope from help of others, to a place of darkness or even prosperty... Well beyond anything we understand.. to the point where only God could bring you back. If you can continue through that God will lead you to where you are supposed to be. All of this in an effort to humble you and have you meet Him on His terms. God will not meet you on yours.
