God would be interested if you shared your thoughts directly to him. He already knows what you are thinking, but that doesn't interest him, unless you want to talk about it.
You can think towards God, without any rituals, that's what genuine prayer is...which shows that you've probably talked more often to God than you think you've ever been heard.
You may ask for specific evidence to assure you that he listens to you. How you do that, and how often, is entirely up to you.
Some people will say that it's just self fulfilling prophecy - making things up as you go.
Well, you are scientifically minded, so devise fool proof tests if you like.
