Alpha, your example is pathetic.... the search for a donor boils down to luck.
The more people you have, the easier it is to find a matching donor.
Also, thousands of Americans seek cancer treatment in.... Cuba!
Socialized health care is not either you have to wait, or go to some other country and pay up.
In Portugal, there are public hospitals that are part of the national health service and you get healthcare for nearly nothing and you have to wait, because there's tons of people in the same situation and the resources are limited.
In parallel, there are private hospitals and clinics where people with insurance and money to spend go. Easy peasy!
But, when the insurance caps out and you need more care than you can go on affording, you get transferred to a public hospital, where profit is not the goal.
Maybe you'd rather have people with incomplete treatments get thrown out to do it at home?...
