Religion hijacks a lot of things. If it can't stamp something out, it will take credit for it. Something along the lines of "Do unto others as you'd have them do unto you" is older than christianity, despite being famous Jesus quote.
A bit since I spent a bit of time trying to find out just when this happened. I mean as a marketing strategy it really is a masterpiece, but I can't find the whodunnit! No matter what search terms I use all roads lead back to the Arthur Clarke quip. Well apart from the thousand and three apologist angles that is.
Quote:It says in the holy bible!
25:35 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:
Well yes of course the bible says that. But then isn’t that what decent people do anyway, you know, look after one another? If you shove a hot poker up the bible's arse it will tell you everything and anything you need to know: from how to cure Phimosis to making high explosives from polo mints.
Somewhere at some time some slimy fuck correlated being good with being with god. And oh boy did it sell.
Who was it?
It's amazing 'science' always seems to 'find' whatever it is funded for, and never the oppsite. Drich.
