Love, romance originates in the mind.
It is "giving the hormone rush a meaning". That's why all cultures practice sex, but not all cultures focus on love and romance.
99% of the time, love and sexual attraction go hand in hand. People are sexually attracted to the gender they feel romantic love towards, and people tend to feel more sexually attracted to the individual that they are in love with.
From this, it's hard to believe that who you love has a different cause from who you are attracted to.
Besides, it is all caused from chemicals in the first place, and I fail to see how that supports your claim that society is the cause.
