Solomon Kane. Awful piece of sophomoronic dreck. Purefoy looked the part, but that was about it. The film had precious little to do with the character from the stories, nothing about Africa (where many of Kane's best adventures took place), the Staff, Kane's hatred of evil for evil's sake - nothing.
Granted, Howard didn't give Solomon Kane much of a back story, but that was a big part of the attraction of the character - a mysterious, fanatical anti-hero.
I'll give the filmmaker's some credit, though - it must have taken a tremendous, concerted effort to ruin a film when you've got Pete Postlethwaite, Max von Sydow, and Alice Krige to work with.
