Reading a book and following it are two different things. If you get an idea from a book that seems good to you and you use it, you're using your own judgment. If you commit to believing and acting on a book no matter what, you're abdicating your judgment.
I want to dare and say: that my judgement got reshaped after reading the book itself.
But that's your entrance to oppressing other opinions, and shares a lot with narcissism. I can't make that claim.
It's my own choice then. Own judgement as you say.
